Choose a product and installation system
Ask which flooring construction and attachment method suit your subfloor and room conditions. Review the flooring manufacturer’s requirements for moisture assessment, site preparation, acclimation, and movement allowances. Patterned floors can add layout and labor complexity.
Make removal and transitions explicit
Confirm demolition, disposal, subfloor correction, trim, doors, stair connections, and thresholds in the written scope. Compare the material specification as well as the labor. A lower price may represent a different product or an incomplete preparation allowance.
Connect new boards to an existing floor
Extending a floor may require sourcing a compatible board and discussing a weave-in or a deliberate transition. Color, milling, wear, and age can affect the match. Review samples and the scope of any associated refinishing before choosing a route.
