Everyday care
Sweep or use a suitable dust mop, clean spills promptly, and protect furniture contact points. Check entry mats and rug pads for compatibility. Avoid dragging furniture and ask the installer about chair wheels and frequently moved pieces.
Clean for the finish you have
Follow the finish manufacturer’s instructions and the contractor’s care plan. Avoid introducing waxes, oils, or polishes without confirming compatibility. Excess water and inappropriate cleaning methods can damage a wood floor or complicate a future recoat.
Watch the finish before wear reaches the wood
Ask a flooring professional about maintenance when busy paths start to look dull. A timely recoat may be an option for a suitable floor. Deep wear, darkening, loose boards, or new moisture symptoms deserve a more detailed assessment.
